Evalueserve are a global player in business intelligence delivery, but saw great inefficiency in what was mostly an offline, phone led order process reserved for large companies with corporate accounts. They saw a future where much of what they do today could be automated and decided to be the first in their field to accelerate towards that future rather than stick their heads in the sand.
The core idea was to use machine learning and automation to improve workflow efficiency and remove the less skilled tasks performed by analysts, leaving them to focus on the parts where they could really add value.
Most of the tools created were customer facing, but we also helped with backend interfaces such as the analyst research tool and report construction application.
We worked with the product owners to establish the most sensible starting point and began working towards an initial MVP. The team was globally distributed and working agile. The product owners were in India, the Engineering team was in Zurich, the front-end development team in Prague and us in London.
We helped developed the brand, a design system, the UX and the UI for the MVP, as well as managed the front end delivery production. The first MVP for InsightBee was a success and prompted further investment that led to a 4 year long relationship and a large suite of products being produced.
The most challenging parts of this project were when the client wanted to develop a new product offering with extremely ambitious business requirements. Managing complex functional and user requirements whilst trying to keep the UX simple and the UI manageable.
I managed the core website and product for 2 of the 4 years of the project lifespan, and took responsibility for 3 out of 4 of the additional products. On projects I was not leading I was continuing to contribute. Throughout the project I worked very closely with client-side head of innovation and product managers. I project managed and directed the projects, whilst managing the UX & UI design, chipping in to help with production as required. I managed the front-end delivery and handled integration assistance with the engineering team.
Product team of over 30, and a design team of 6.
